Extending the work of the boards of directors of sports federations beyond the Olympic Games

The General Sports Authority announced, in accordance with a decision approved by the president of the authority, Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Belhoul, to extend the term of the boards of some sports bodies until after the Olympic Games Tokyo 2021, whether or not they are held.

The authority said in a press statement, "This decision comes in line with the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games due to the Corona pandemic, and in line with the National Olympic Committee's decision to postpone its board of directors elections until after the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games, and the decision was also in line with the majority of sports authorities' orientations The international organization that extended the work of the boards of directors of these bodies to the mentioned period.

On the other hand, the decision gives the boards of directors of the current sports bodies an opportunity to complete their preparations for the Olympic Games, and gives them sufficient time to study the basic laws and regulations related to their work.

It is noteworthy that the General Sports Authority approved the formation of the boards of each of the "Emirates Handball Federation - Emirates Cycling Federation - Emirates Basketball Federation".
