  • Bordeaux and Toulouse challenge each other this Wednesday in the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France, at Matmut Atlantique.

  • Between health constraints and sporting choices, this derby on the Garonne is likely to look odd.

Already there is the schedule, combined with the health context.

It is rare that a match of the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France scheduled on a weekday at 2.45 p.m., in a closed-door stadium, makes football history.

Unless there is a huge surprise, the duel between the Girondins de Bordeaux and the TFC, this Wednesday, should therefore not be part of the memories that we will later tell his grandchildren by the fire, Father Castor style.

And then there is the sporting aspect.

For both teams, this match is clearly not the priority at the moment.

Bordeaux, tenth in Ligue 1, remains on three defeats and only thinks of the reception of Marseille on Sunday.

As for Toulouse, the second in Ligue 2 which will host AC Ajaccio next Monday, the whole club has only one idea in mind: to immediately climb back into the elite.

Bordeaux-Toulouse: Who are the young people that we could see on the Girondins side?

And the derby in all this?

“I imagine that for Toulouse fans, playing Bordeaux is important, agrees Patrice Garande, coach of the Violets.

Afterwards, they know very well what our objective is.

In this match, I can't quite measure the impact of the derby.

For me, a derby means full stands, a colorful stadium, an atmosphere.

The only thing I can assure the fans is that the team that will come on the field will play the game to qualify.

"

Pettersson, the Swedish Lopes?

The less assiduous fans of the TFC may have difficulty recognizing certain faces, this Wednesday at Matmut Atlantique.

Swedish goalkeeper Isak Pettersson, whom Garande compares to Lyonnais Anthony Lopes, will make his debut in France, while Belgian defender Sebastian Dewaest, also arriving in January, will only play his second game.

As for the young Tom Rapnouil (20 years since Tuesday), he should play his first official professional meeting as a left piston, instead of the essential Colombian moped Deiver Machado, suspended.

On the Girondin side too, in addition to January's rookie Jean-Michaël Seri, we will be exhibiting a few kids (Tom Lacoux, Dilane Bakwa, Amadou Traoré or even Sekou Mara) and highlighting certain older elements of mothballs (Mexer, Jimmy Briand…).

“There are players that I want to see live bullets because we only see them in training or during oppositions against the National 3 team, explains Jean-Louis Gasset, the Bordeaux technician.

They have a chance that they have been waiting for a long time.

With the younger ones, you have to pretend it's a friendly match.

Appetite comes with eating.

»Only 2:45 pm, it's a bit late for lunch.

And far too early to taste.
