SVT Sport meets a relaxed and harmonious Jonas Jerebko at home in the house in Gottskär.

It has been turbulent for some time after the break with the Russian club Khimki which he left shortly after New Year.

- I was allowed by our general manager to take time off over the New Year.

He said "go home over the New Year and come back on the fourth of January".

Then I did so and was ready to fly to Lithuania for a match against Zalgiris that we had the fifth.

I was packing my bags and was going to leave on the fourth morning when my agent called and said "coach does not want you back".

Other focus

He takes the situation fairly calmly and says that Khimki owes him many millions, but that the lawyers and agents have to take care of that.

There are other things that need much more attention right now.

Jonas and his wife Johanna have daughters Izabel and Celine, now in April there will be an increase when the couple's first son is expected.

- It will be full now when we have our third child in April so it is with the family my focus is now.

Family comes first

Right now he has no contract and has nobbed several offers from top clubs in Europe.

The focus in basketball is on the national team, what happens after that and next season is very much about what the rest of the family wants.

- I don't know if it will be the USA or a club in the Euroleague, but I can take it with the family as well.

Do you want to move to Italy?

Do you want to move to Spain?

What do you want to do?

It's not just my decision.

Back in the national team

The last time he played for the national team was in the European Championship finals in 2013 in Slovenia.

After that, he has been in some gross troops over the years but it has never been anything more.

- The timing is perfect now because I have no club that can stop me.

And of course I am very motivated to play for Sweden again.

We have a good team, we have beaten Turkey before so I think we have a really good chance to get to the European Championship finals.

No savior

Jonas Jerebko is one of Sweden's absolute best players.

If you look at his merits, it's no joke.

But that he should go in and dominate and be a superstar is far from how he sees his role in the national team.

- I am not a player who comes in and demands 30 shots and asks for the ball all the time.

I am a team player and will try to help the young players and the coach and be a leader on the field.
