There will be no World Cup start for Alexander Köll in Cortina.

A nasty crash in Val d'Isère earlier in December, when he knocked out three front teeth, lingers and puts a stop to the 30-year-old's World Cup participation.

Köll did a test at home in Matrei (Austria) before leaving yesterday.

- After 40 seconds, I just felt how the body released the energy and how I had a hard time judging distance.

I had a hard time seeing clearly and not keeping the body tension.

He also says that it is the atlas vertebra in the neck that has been displaced, which means that the connection between the brain and the heart does not work properly.

- It's the toughest decision I've ever made.

I never thought I would say no to a competition.

But it's like having bad wifi, you have to have a fast connection to surf well and I do not have that now.

"Will support Felix"

But despite the diffuse injury and uncertainty about how long it will take before he can compete again, he is not too worried about the future.

- It is of course tough not to have a schedule but now I have to listen to my body and have patience, he says and adds that he will support his teammate Felix Monsén from the TV couch.

- I support Felix all the time and he calls me after inspection.

I gave him tips in Garmisch this weekend and it went pretty well, he says and laughs.
