There were indeed special scenes that took place in New York last night.

Brookylyn star Kevin Durant, who with his 29.5 points per game is the second best in the league, was not allowed to start the match because a person in his vicinity had left a covid test where the answer could not be read.

Some time into the first period, however, he was admitted to the pitch, in accordance with the league's rules.

- The league's health and safety protocol does not require a player to be quarantined before a person in the player's vicinity has submitted a confirmed positive test, says the league's spokesman Tim Frank on the NBA's website.

"Safety reasons"

In the third period, however, Durant was forced to leave the match, after the person in Durant's vicinity left a positive test.

- When the test was confirmed positive, Durant was removed from the match for security reasons, says Tim Frank, who also says that a contact search is now being done to ensure whether Durant has actually been in the vicinity of the infected person.

Looked amazing

Durant was removed in connection with him sitting on the bench.

When a leader informed him of the situation, he looked surprised and shook his head, and a short time later he posted a post on Twitter where he wrote "Free me".

The messy situation did not go unnoticed by Durant's teammates.

- Confusing and frustrating.

I mean ... It's bizarre, says Joe Harris.

- I do not understand.

It is of course frustrating.

I mean, they let him play, then they take him away.

I do not know ... I do not understand, says Jeff Green.

"Do not understand"

James Harden tells ESPN that he believes the match should not have been played, despite the fact that Durant, according to the league, did three negative covid tests in the 24 hours before the match.

- I do not understand what the problem is.

I think the match should be postponed.

If we talk about close contacts, then Durant has been close to all of us.

So I do not understand that he was first not allowed to play, then they let him play and then they removed him from the field, he says.

Brookylyn lost the match 117-123.

Brooklyn is playing its next game tonight, against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Kevin Durant has not traveled with the team there.
