Henrik Norlander continues to show why he is currently Sweden's hottest men's golfer.

After this weekend's shared second place in the PGA Tour competition at Torrey Pines, Norlander started this week by going the first round of 68 strokes, three under par, in the Phoenix Open.

Norlander got off to a rather sluggish start and was one over par with seven holes left - but then he made birdies on holes 12, 15, 16 and 18.

The 33-year-old is ranked 107th in the world after his recent second place and blows Henrik Stenson and Alex Norén in the battle for Sweden's two places at the Olympics in Tokyo.

Up to the lead in Arizona, however, it is a small distance for Norlander, who after the first day shares 21st place with, among others, Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka.

They and 13 other players are five strokes behind the leading duo Matthew NeSmith and Mark Hubbard, both of the United States, who went around on 63 strokes.
