Panic in Melbourne!

Between 500 and 600 players and accredited for the Australian Open were placed in solitary confinement on Wednesday, awaiting testing after a case of Covid-19 was detected among staff at one of the hotels where they spent their quarantine.

"It could have an impact on the schedule for tomorrow (Thursday) of the preparatory tournaments, but at this stage, it has no impact on the Australian Open itself", which is due to start on Monday, a said Prime Minister of the State of Victoria Daniel Andrews.

Six preparation tournaments, all held in Melbourne Park, like the first grand slam of the season, are taking place in parallel this week.
