The third period began with Nashville's Finns Eeli Tolvanen and Mikael Grandlund reducing to 4-2.

But that was not enough all the way and after a second goal by Tampa Bay's Yanni Gourde, the match ended 5-2.

Montreal defeated Vancouver again

For the third time in four meetings, Montreal has won over Vancouver, and the team has scored at least five goals in each game.

With the loss, Vancouver broke its winning streak in four games, and the team did not show the same strength as last week, when both Ottawa and Winnipeg were defeated.

Montreal's Corey Perry scored his 800th NHL point as he passed Jeff Petry's second goal, 5-1.

Vancouver's Alexander Edler was also noted for an assist.

Boston turned and won

In the meeting between Washington and Boston, the former took an early grip on the match.

But with over half the playing time completed and 3-0 to Washington, Boston put in an extra gear.

David Pastrnak reduced in the second period and started the third by scoring another goal.

Washington's 3-2 lead then went up in smoke as Boston ended the period, and the game, by thundering in three more goals to eventually win 5-3.

Sentencing

The second Canadian meeting of the night, between Calgary and Ottawa, was a smooth story.

After regular match time, the score was 3-3 and a goalless extra time took the match to a penalty shootout, where eight shots were required before Calgary through Johnny Gaudreau could decide.

Jacob Markström in the Calgary goal saved 26 pucks and Elias Lindholm was noted for two assists.
