This weekend's mass start in Falun, Kerttu Niskanen finished twelfth.

It has turned out to be her last race before the World Cup, and probably the last for the season.

She had sustained a fracture in her calf during the race.

And despite real pain, she still chose to complete the mass start.

In tears after the finish

Niskanen cried after the finish and could not get to her own machine, she got help from paramedics.

"I have broken my left calf bone," Niskanen wrote on Instagram.

Miss World Cup

Yesterday, the Finnish Ski Association announced that the 32-year-old will thus miss the World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf in about three weeks.

She is supported by her brother Iivo Niskanen, 29.

"The trip to Falun really did not end well.

It is unbelievable that you did not break the race, but fought your way to the finish line with a broken calf bone.

You are a fighter and you will also overcome this adversity ", wrote Iivo Niskanen in a post on Instagram.
