Emirates Fencing Federation resumes its local championships

The Emirates Fencing Federation will resume its local championships program by holding the first championships for the 2020/2021 sports season for the general category, men and women, which will be hosted by the Sharjah Sports Club in the club hall in Al Hazana on the next Friday and Saturday, with the participation of more than 100 players.

A press release said: "The competitions will start on the day after tomorrow, Friday, with the holding of girls' competitions for the teams in the general category for the singles in the three weapons, the auxiliary, the fluorescent, and the saber, provided that the competitions will be concluded on Saturday with the participation of the state's fencing clubs, which are the Bani Yas, Al-Ahly and Sharjah clubs, the Sharjah Women's Foundation, Fujairah Club and the MKF Academy. In Dubai, the championship will be sponsored by the two companies, Tima International, and Absolute Sports Equipment, sponsors of the Federation.

Hoda Abdul Rahman Al Matroushi, Secretary General of the Emirates Fencing Federation, explained that the Federation’s Board of Directors headed by Eng. Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the Arab and Emirati Fencing Federations, had previously approved the resumption of the activities of its local tournaments after obtaining all the necessary approvals from the official authorities in the country in accordance with the precautionary measures. And the protocol for the establishment of sporting activities, approved by the concerned authorities.

Al-Matroushi pointed out that the association’s organization of the tournament at this time confirms the return of the federation’s full activity after the return of training for state clubs, training centers and fencing academies several months ago, so that the tournament is the first for the federation after a period of stopping the local tournaments since last March and also coincides with the return of the international activity of the game where the Federation approved The fencing recently has a gradual return to international tournament activities.
