At 6 pm on Wednesday evening, an extra annual meeting for Häcken begins.

The only item on the agenda: whether Häcken will take over the damallsvenskan champion club Göteborg FC or not.

What happens now?

Häcken holds an extra annual meeting on Wednesday evening.

On Thursday morning, Göteborg FC has its regular annual meeting, where Häcken's position will probably be the dominant issue.

Who decides?

Häcken has just over 900 voting members who will take a position on the board's proposal.

In Gothenburg FC, it is about 40-50 people according to previous information from Peter Bronsman.

What happens in the event of a yes from Häcken?

First, not so much, because the JRC's annual meeting the next day has to be expected.

But with a yes from both annual meetings, Häcken takes over Gothenburg FC and the club's place in both the Damallsvenskan and the Champions League.

Formally, however, GFC will remain as an association in the coming season, as the league place is linked to Göteborg FC's organization number.

What happens to the name, the home arena and the jerseys?

It is still not completely decided.

BK Häcken already has a women's team in division 2 and the team may not have exactly the same name.

The plan is to give the damallsvenska team some form of addition in its name, to distinguish it from the division 2 team.

The goal, however, is for the team to be called Häcken, play in Häcken's colors and share the home arena Bravida at Hisingen with the club's men's Swedish team.

Criticism

Häcken's supporter association Getingarna has, at least initially, received the proposal with some skepticism.

Chairman Robin Heed has, for example, criticized how Gothenburg FC was run and how the question of the possible closure was handled by, among others, Peter Bronsman.

The supporters have also accused their own club management of thinking short-term.

After a membership forum last week, Robin Heed rated the chances of a yes as "50-50".

What happens in the event of a no?

If Häcken's members vote no, Göteborg FC's future would again be very uncertain.

Gothenburg certainly has several large men's clubs - which, however, have so far nobbed the JRC's approaches.

A no from Häcken would probably lead to renewed contacts with, for example, IFK Gothenburg and other associations.

In the long run, however, it may be that Gothenburg FC is, after all, closed down completely.
