Johannes Lukas fell down a flight of stairs in the arena in Antholz after a training session a week and landed on his shoulder.

The league captain fell on the same shoulder as he injured two years ago and then had to operate.

Lukas has been in a lot of pain since the fall and now he is forced to leave the national biathlon team.

Will be examined tomorrow

- I have a whole body and a bad shoulder and land on it.

It's bad luck.

But now I have managed this week stably, he says.

The league captain will go home and be examined by the same doctor who operated on him, which Expressen reported on first.

He tells the newspaper that he hopes it does not mean the end of the season, which thus indicates that the World Cup is in danger.

- We have no idea what it is right now.

I know more tomorrow.

But it's probably not that dramatic.

So the World Cup is not in danger if there is surgery?

- Yes, but I have no idea if it will be surgery or not and if it is needed, maybe it can wait until after the World Cup.

If I can choose between surgery now or at the end of the season, I will of course take the end of the season.

"They get several quiet days without me"

Does it have any consequences for the team that you are forced to leave now?

- No, that they can have several quiet days without me, it will be good for them.

The World Cup starts on February 10 in Pokljuka.

The national team stays in Antholz as part of its recharging before the World Cup, which is the next competition.
