7 Corona cases in the Australian Tennis Championships

Today, local health authorities announced that two players who were scheduled to participate in the Australian Open tennis tournament were infected with the new Corona virus, which raised the number of cases related to the first Grand Slam tournament, which is scheduled to start on February 8, to seven.

The Victoria State Department of Health said that two players and a third person associated with the tournament had tested positive, and that it was a woman in her twenties and two men in her thirties.

The prestigious Melbourne Championship, which was postponed for three weeks, shook after discovering cases of Corona virus among thousands of players and people close to them who had just arrived in Australia on charter flights.

The ministry stated that a total of nine people have tested positive for the virus so far while they are in quarantine, but two cases are considered old.

And she added that as a result of the detection of cases on board some flights, 72 people have become completely isolated in their hotel rooms, unlike others who are allowed to go outside for a few hours a day for training.

Some players complained that they were not informed before coming to Australia of the danger of strict isolation, expressing their concern about their physical level after these days in their rooms, when the preparatory sessions for the tournament begin on January 31.
