Florida had to cancel its first two games in this year's NHL season after prospective opponent Dallas suffered a covid-19 outbreak.

When it premiered, Patric Hörnqvist got off to a flying start in the new club Florida.

At home against Chicago, it was a 5-2 victory and Hörnqvist himself was responsible for the goal to 4-2.

Left Pittsburgh for Florida

Hörnqvist left Pittsburgh for Florida last autumn and seems to have acclimatized well.

After his goal, he was also behind Jonathan Huberdeau's 5-2 with three minutes left, which completely punctured the match.

During the six years in Pittsburgh, Hörnqvist participated and won two Stanley Cup titles.

In total, Sollentuna-born Hörnqvist had scored 263 goals in 860 games in the NHL and Stanley Cup finals before Sunday's match in twelve seasons.

Anniversary goal by Keith Yandles

During the match, Florida could also rejoice over Keith Yandle's one hundred goals in the North American ice hockey league.

Yandle has now played 867 games without missing a single one in between, the longest-running suite in the entire NHL.

That suite would have been broken if Florida had played against Dallas and it was long uncertain whether the veteran would be able to slip into the ice on Sunday.

But in the end he got the go-ahead and thus celebrated with an anniversary goal.
