The reason for the severe restrictions is that a person who traveled on the same flight as Ymer from Doha, where the qualifier was carried out, tested positive for the coronavirus.

"All players on the field, including Elias, are now forced to be quarantined for two weeks in Melbourne without any access to training," writes Tennisportalen.

Over 70 players are isolated

Three flights with tennis players, who will play in this year's first Grand Slam tournament, have had corona infected on board.

72 players can thus sit in their hotel rooms for 14 days without being allowed to train.

The other tennis players are allowed to leave the hotel room to train for five hours a day.

Ymer will be released from quarantine just over a week before the tennis tournament begins on February 8.

In the Australian Open, Elias Ymer is accompanied by Blågult by little brother Mikael Ymer and Rebecca Peterson.
