Alfred Gislason learned how to get on with it early on.

Even as a young boy, he had to help out in his parents' business in his Icelandic hometown of Akureyri.

“I grew up more or less in construction.

My father was a bricklayer and had a company, ”he says.

"From twelve on I was a handyman for various craftsmen."

The childlike character has contributed to the fact that Gislason has huge hands - and with them he now wants to trim the best German ball throwers at the World Cup.

The mission got off to a promising start.
