It is still unclear whether the men's championship will be decided in Belarus.

The country's organization has been criticized and questioned from many quarters as Belarus is criticized for lack of respect for human rights and the regime's harsh crackdown on those who protested against the government.

Now the main sponsor is also entering the debate.

In a post on social media, Czech Skoda - which has sponsored the Ice Hockey World Cup for 28 consecutive years - writes that they will withdraw their sponsorship if the tournament is decided in Belarus.

“We have been a proud sponsor of the Ice Hockey World Cup for 28 years.

But we also respect and stand up for human rights.

Therefore, Skoda will withdraw if it is confirmed that Belarus is one of the host nations ", Skoda writes on Twitter.

The plan is for Belarus to arrange together with Latvia.

René Fasel, chairman of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), has not said anything about moving the championship.

- Our first alternative is still to arrange the World Cup in Minsk and Riga, he said earlier this week.
