The UFC is back on "Fight Island" in Abu Dhabi with three galas in the space of a week.

In the final, the night before Sunday, January 24, the MMA sport's big poster name Conor McGregor is back and goes to the main match.

The Irishman has not played a game since January 2020 when he knocked out veteran Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone after just 40 seconds.

He looks forward to being back in the hot air.

- It has been an incredible training camp.

It has been tough, but all my coaches and training mates have been phenomenal.

I really look forward to showing off all the work we have put in and putting my nation on the map once again, says the proud Dublin son McGregor.

"Discipline and structure"

The former champion in two weight classes has made himself at least as famous for his scandalous headlines as for his fantastic qualities in the cage, but now the 32-year-old says he is in a good place in life.

- Discipline and structure are the real keys to success and I have the two things.

I am absolutely much more mature today, in all aspects of my life.

I'm in a very positive place right now.

I have gone through a lot, but I stand here before you today and have won.

Because I'm very happy about that, he says.

Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier have met once before, in September 2014, and that time McGregor won by knockout after just 106 seconds.

Poirier is currently ranked second in the world among the challengers for the champion belt in lightweight (70.3 kilos).

McGregor is fourth.

His arch-rival Khabib Nurmagomedov still holds the championship belt, but the Russian's future is uncertain after he put his gloves on the shelf in October last year.
