The Tokyo Olympics remain a question mark.

Opinion in Japan has recently been increasingly critical of the games being decided next summer, as the corona situation has worsened again.

And now the country's government is also opening up that the games may not be over, despite the fact that the previous signals from the government have been that the games should be held at any price.

"Can stop anyway"

Today, in an interview with the news agency Reuters, the country's Minister of Administrative Reform and Legislation Taro Kono admits that the fate of the games is still in the air.

- We have to do our best to prepare for the games, but it can end anyway, he says.

"Everything is possible"

As recently as earlier this week, 77 percent of participants in a Japanese poll said the games should be postponed or canceled.

And now it seems that the government, despite Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga's words last week that the championships will still be held, is ready for the games to be canceled.

- Everything is possible, but as organizers of the games we have to do everything we can.

If there is a green light, we will be ready to arrange a good Olympics.

But the Olympic Committee must also think of a Plan B and a Plan C, says Taro Kono.
