Masumi Kuwata, who has won a total of 173 wins in professional baseball and giants and played in the major leagues, is expected to become the coach of the giant's pitcher division.

Mr. Kuwata is 52 years old.

In 1986, I joined the Giants from PL Gakuen in Osaka in the first draft.

In the second year, he won the title with the highest ERA and won the Sawamura Award.

For many years, he carried the ace number 18 on his back and pulled the starting pitchers to win a total of 173 wins.

He also transferred to Major League Baseball Pirates and pitched in 19 games at the age of 39.

After retiring from active duty the following year, he has been studying sports business as well as efficient pitching and batting movements at Waseda University and the University of Tokyo graduate school, and in 2013 he became a special coach of the University of Tokyo baseball club, which continues to be sluggish. I have been teaching in amateur baseball, such as taking office and rebuilding the team.

According to the people concerned, Mr. Kuwata will be officially announced soon with the prospect of becoming a coach of the giant and teaching the pitcher.

It will be the first time in 15 years since Mr. Kuwata returned to the old nest in 2006.
