Shiffrin led after the first two intermediate times, but by the third, the first starting Wendy Holdener had taken the lead with 0.17.

But Shiffrin was able to turn the cut after a quick finish and won the first run by 0.08 before Holdener.

- She is good at finishing her runs, she has not shown that this winter, and from the last intermission she got up to speed, says SVT Sports expert Tobias Hellman about Shiffrin's efforts.

Petra Vlhova, who leads both the overall and slalom cups, sneaks in as third, only 0.14 behind Shiffrin in what looked like a safety run.

Emelie Wikström was 2.44 behind in the finish in what was Frida Hansdotter's favorite competition on the tour.

- Unfortunately, she did not create any speed, it was slow-paced, says Hellman about Wikström's effort pale effort.

The second run starts at 20.45.
