January 1, 2019, a new gaming legislation was introduced in Sweden.

Now it will for the first time be tried in the district court.

In December, chamber prosecutor Staffan Edlund brought charges against four people, including a former Allsvenskan player and two former national team players in futsal.

Lower level events

The ex-Allsvenskan player is accused of taking a bribe, when according to the prosecutor he took a yellow card on purpose, and then had to take a loan from two of the other players.

The former national team players in futsal are charged with cheating and giving or taking bribes, after, among other things, having affected the result in a number of matches at a lower level.

Five trial dates

However, it will be some time before the events are taken up in court.

Malmö District Court informs SVT Sport that the trial will not be held until May.

"The main hearing days are tentatively planned for 17, 19, 24, 28 and 31 May", the Court of Appeal writes in an email.

All defendants deny any wrongdoing.
