Jean-Louis Borloo greets Eric Chelle, former player of Valenciennes -

M.Libert / 20 Minutes

  • Ninth in Ligue 2, the VAFC is doing quite well sporting which is not the case internally.

  • The management of President Eddy Zdziech is strongly criticized by groups of supporters who have decided to send an open letter to Jean-Louis Borloo, ex-mayor and president of Valenciennes.

  • The initiative provoked the anger and insults of a shareholder of the club on social networks.

To the point that Eddy Zdziech decided to call for calm in a statement.

They can't take it anymore.

If on the ground, Valenciennes is not so badly placed as evidenced by its ninth place in Ligue 2, the club's supporters are very upset against the management of the VAFC.

In their sights, Eddy Zdziech, president of VA since 2014, to whom they blame his governance but also the fact of having cut himself off from many political and economic actors of Valenciennes.

After sending him a symbolic letter of dismissal on December 24, several groups of supporters (Ultras Roisters, GRB, Mentalita Valentiana, Collectif NOVA) decided to ask for support from Jean-Louis Borloo in an open letter.

➡️Today we are addressing directly to Mr. @JLBorloo via this open letter.

We ask him to take a stand for the departure of Eddy Zdziech and invite him to the rally on January 24 that we will detail you very soon!

Borloo, the only one to be unanimous

Mayor of Valenciennes from 1989 to 2002 and president of the club from 1986 to 1991, the former minister is unanimous in Hainaut where he still embodies the statue of the commander even if there is no longer any official function.

“We think he could advance a subject that has not moved forward for a long time.

We would like him to ask Eddy Zdziech to give up his place for a more ambitious project.

Today, there is a lack of ambitions, a lack of resources, a lack of communication.

We think we can hope for better for the VAFC, ”said Stéphane, spokesperson for the Ultras Roisters.

These claims have already caused a big clash on social networks.

In response to this letter posted on a fan Facebook group, one of the club's shareholders cracked a post insulting the supporters on Sunday.

"Tell (sic) your friends the supporters of me… to go have anal sex …….

The VAFC is not them, it is us because if the VAFC is still standing, it is thanks to us and not to them !!!

The proof, the confinement not to support and then we move forward anyway.

you can post my message to all (sic) supporters and also tell them that I am at their disposal if there is one ”.

Eddy Zdziech calls for calm

What unnecessarily fuel the fire in an already very tense context.

“I'm not sure what got into him.

But that's kind of the current problem.

For the shareholders, they are the VAFC.

For some supporters, they are the VAFC.

But in fact VA belongs to everyone.

To supporters, shareholders, players, staff and all lovers of Valenciennes.

OK, the president has put money in but that does not justify everything, ”continues Stéphane, who calls on the supporters for calm.

Same thing on the side of the president of the VAFC, Eddy Zdizech, who regretted the tense exchanges of the weekend in a press release published on Monday on the club's website: “I ask everyone to find calm and serenity.

For my part, I have never contested the right of everyone to express themselves, but we have to admit that certain comments are of unheard-of and unacceptable violence, whatever their origin and to my great regret.

Others, on the contrary, want to be more positive and encouragement for the work done.

We may not agree on the trajectory taken by the club but both must be able to express themselves with respect and tolerance.

"

What to relieve the tension?

Not necessarily because groups of supporters are already calling for a peaceful rally on January 24, if the health situation allows, to signify "the end of his notice to Eddy Zdziech one month after his letter of dismissal", smiles one of the between them.

One way to keep a sense of humor in a situation that no one laughs at anymore.
