In view of the coronavirus pandemic, the decision announced on Sunday by the organizers of the World-2021 men's handball is not a surprise.

The competition, which starts Wednesday in Egypt, will take place without spectators.

The decision was taken after a meeting in the presence of Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and the President of the International Handball Federation (IHF), the Egyptian Hassan Moustafa.

For the second time in Egypt

This Mondial-2021, from January 13 to 31, is the second organized in Egypt after that of 1999. It takes place in a context of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the 32 selections will have to be subject to a strict health bubble, not can leave their hotel only for training and matches, in order to limit the risk of contamination.

The competition will be held in four venues in Cairo, New Cairo, City of October 6 and Alexandria.

The opener is scheduled for Wednesday between Egypt and Chile at Cairo Stadium Hall, which will also host the final in three weeks.

The France team is in Group E with Norway, Austria and the United States.

The players of national coach Guillaume Gille will fly to Cairo at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

They start the tournament on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. against Norway.
