Bestaven in slow motion, Dalin and Rettant come back

What if we promised ourselves a tight end of the race?

Not very comfortable in this climb up the Atlantic, the leader Yannick Bestaven, who was already seeing with the race won, let his direct pursuers go up.

This Sunday morning, Charlie Dalin and Thomas Roût are only 189 and 278 nautical miles from Bestaven, respectively.

What remains a comfortable mattress, especially as we recall, Bestaven will benefit from a 10-hour penalty reduction on arrival at Les Sables d'Olonne for having rescued Kévin Escoffier.

But beware, the road is still long, while we are just starting to follow the coasts of Brazil ...

Classification

1. Yannick Bestaven, Maître Coq IV

2. Charlie Dalin, Apivia, 189 miles

3. Thomas Rouillard, 278 mn away

And Dalin is building up the pressure

Feeling that everything could be played out in his head, Charlie Dalin plays the pressure on Bestaven.

On vacation during the night from Saturday to Sunday, the current runner-up is running at full speed.

“I finally expressed the potential of the boat, it was nice to find speeds worthy of him,” he explains.

Even if the winds are less favorable in southern Brazil, Dalin still believes in it before facing the traditional black pole.

“There are still some shots to be played, that's good news.

This front is going to redistribute the cards one way or another.

Each will have their East / West positioning with which they will have to play until the doldrums.

This is the last big strategic obstacle (until the doldrums, editor's note), then everyone will navigate in their line.

"

Isabelle Joschke drops the deal

A hard blow for the Franco-German skipper.

While she occupied the 11th position of the race, the sailor noticed a new damage to the keel of her boat (MACSF), and more precisely "the breakage of the false keel cylinder installed on January 3 following the loss of the hydraulic cylinder rod, ”the organizers announced on Saturday.

This is the 7th retirement in the Vendée Globe, out of the 33 sailors entered at the start.

Safe on her boat, Isabelle Joschke will now try to reach a port as quickly as possible while she is still in the middle of a depression.

Sorel to support

Maxime Sorel "shared" the same depression as Isabelle Joschke at the time of her retirement.

Invited to the session last night, the skipper V and B-Mayenne has told a little about the last few days.

“With Isa, we had been talking by courier for two or three days.

We knew we would both get screwed.

Yesterday, I didn't have it too much, except at the end of the day.

I ask her if it's okay, she replies: "It's really shit, I blew my bowling".

I didn't have the words, I was disgusted: I saw her in the top 5 at the finish!

It sucks because we are in the Atlantic, because we tell ourselves that we will be at home to party together, and suddenly, we lose a playmate. Isa was crippled , but she deserved to finish and breathe.

But that's the harsh law of the Vendée Globe.

»Cruel, cruel Vendée Globe.
