The head of the UAE National Anti-Doping Committee, Dr. Rima Al Hosani, became a member of the Health, Medicine and Research Committee at the International Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), becoming the first Arab woman to obtain this membership.

A press release said: “Al-Hosani obtained a membership in the committee for a period of three years, after being nominated by the General Authority for Sports and the Asian Office of the State Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), after meeting the required criteria, including sufficient experience in the field of anti-doping, in addition to Geographical distribution, based on the committee’s keenness to give all countries of the world the opportunity to enjoy membership, with attention to the female presence in the committee with males.

The Health, Medicine and Research Committee has priorities represented in following up all scientific matters, medical developments in the field of sports and combating doping, so that sport is in an environment free of doping and ensuring the health of players.

For her part, Dr. Rima Al Hosani said that obtaining the membership of the committee is a great achievement for the UAE, and that she is the first Arab woman to occupy this position in a global organization of her weight and reputation, noting that her presence in the committee's membership strengthens the country's position on the global level, and she expressed her appreciation to the authority.
