In a statement, the NHL has announced - after six players and two in the management staff tested positive for covid-19 - that the club will not be allowed to play matches until 19 January.

"The team's training facility has been closed and will remain closed for several days while further testing and infection tracing is carried out," the NHL wrote in the statement.

"The league is reviewing (Dallas) Star's schedule and it will probably not start the season until January 19."

Columbus also risks having its premiere, against Nashville on January 14, postponed as 19 players were missing during Friday's training.

"I have no idea what the doctors do, how the regulations (for covid-19) work or what they decide on.

And I'm not even going to worry about that.

No matter what we are faced with, we will try to make the best of the situation ", says coach John Tortorella according to NHL.com.
