FC Schalke 04 apparently does not want to take financial help from former supervisory board boss Clemens Tönnies in the relegation battle of the Bundesliga.

This is what the "Ruhr Nachrichten" reports, among others.

Accordingly, there was not a sufficient majority in the Royal Blues' supervisory board on Wednesday evening.

Tönnies had recently offered his help for the financially troubled club.

The condition should have been that the board of directors and the supervisory board vote in favor.

According to the report, however, two members of the supervisory board were against it.

Tönnies is still a sponsor of the club through one of his companies ("Böklunder"), so it would have been possible to expand this commitment or to extend it early.

The aim of the cash injection was to be able to pay for possible player transfers.
