The board of the Swedish Motorsport Association did not agree regarding the Swedish Rally.

That is why Magnus Berthling resigned on Tuesday.

But when it comes to what grounds, the sentences now diverge and there are word for word.

The association's vice chairman Urban Wahlberg said this to SVT Sport earlier on Wednesday.

“My view is that we had promised the union meeting and our district chairmen not to go in with more money for the Swedish Rally.

We handle our members' money, and somewhere that limit has to go, and it was passed now.

In a democratic order, we voted in the board on how we should do, and it resulted in 4-3 with us not going in with more money for the Swedish Rally.

That is what the question was about ", Urban Wahlberg told SVT Sport earlier on Wednesday.

According to Magnus Berthling, there was a vote in the union's board.

Where his alternative was to keep the company for the Swedish Rally and the organization intact.

While the other alternative that also won a majority on the board was to put the company for the Swedish Rally in bankruptcy.

"Impossible for me to stand behind"

The Swedish Rally is half owned by the Swedish Motorsport Association and half by Uvån's Business Center.

- The majority's proposal that was voted for, to put the company into bankruptcy would mean a large financial loss for the Swedish Motorsport Association and had probably also lost the right to drive the rally in the future.

In my opinion, this was an extremely unfavorable proposal for the association and the sport.

It was impossible for me to stand behind and administer such a proposal, says Magnus Berthling.

Berthling continues:

- Had my alternative gained a majority, the solution would have been ready.

The association and Uvån had jointly sold the company to a national promoter and the company and the organization had remained, and we had started preparations for the Swedish Rally 2022, he says to SVT Sport.

Regarding Urban Wahlberg's statement, Berthling is very critical.

- I do not know what his motive is to say like this, but it has very little to do with reality in my opinion, says Magnus Berthling to SVT Sport.

- What I mainly object to is that he omits the factual information that the Swedish Motorsport Association in the event of a bankruptcy of the Swedish Rally company would get a significant financial blow.

And the chances of recovering it are very small, as I judge it, he continues.

He also wants to emphasize the following:

- I want to be very clear that I think this is an extremely ill-considered and irresponsible proposal made by the board.

Olsson: Then we have no agreement for the WC 2022

Swedish Rally's CEO Glenn Olsson has followed the turbulence within the Swedish Motorsport Association.

He confirms that if the rally company is declared bankrupt, Sweden will be outside the WC calendar in the rally.

- If we do not keep the company running, then the promoter agreement does not survive and that means that we are outside the WC.

If the company is declared bankrupt, our World Cup agreement will be terminated.

Then we have no agreement for the WC 2022 and no WC in Sweden, says Glenn Olsson to SVT Sport.

How do you see the turbulence within the Swedish Motorsport Association?

- There are no good signals to the outside world that we have these concerns, and that Sweden shows this picture.

It feels boring, and I hope we can try to find a way where we can keep the rally and the company alive, says Glenn Olsson.
