Today's European Championship qualifier against Montenegro was postponed - due to the national team player Anton Lindeskog being tested positive for corona.

Tonight, the European Handball Federation (EHF) announced that Saturday's return meeting with Montenegro, which was supposed to be played on Saturday in Eskilstuna, has also been postponed.

"No sustainable solution"

The Swedish players are in family quarantine and cannot gather until Sunday at the earliest.

- It was not a sustainable solution sportingly and above all not from a health point of view to call in people from Sweden, Denmark and Germany at short notice to be able to put a team on the track.

says Hanna Fogelström, national team manager in a press release.

"Would put Sweden in a difficult situation"

And this is how the EHF justified its decision:

“EHF has decided to also postpone Saturday's match to a later date.

Playing this match would put Sweden in a difficult situation and question the sporting value of the match under the prevailing circumstances ", writes EHF.
