He was at the top of his sport.

Now Interpol is looking for him.

Ángel Cabrera, 51, is currently reportedly hiding in the USA.

An international arrest warrant has been issued for the Argentine.

The accusation weighs heavily: The golf star is said to have used violence against several of his ex-wives.

This is reported by international media, including the Swiss “Blick”.

What is explosive is that Cabrera's tourist visa will expire in the coming days.

If the local authorities find the athlete, he is reportedly arrested and extradited to his home country.

There he should then be charged.

In the USA, Cabrera had celebrated his greatest successes as a golfer - in 2007 he became the first South American to win the US Open and in 2009 the glorious Masters in Augusta.

Who is suing Cabrera?

Four former life partners raise allegations against Cabrera.

His ex-wife Silva Rivadero filed two complaints - in 2017 for minor assault and threat and in 2018 for minor assault and theft.

His ex-partner Cecilia Torres reported in 2016 that the golfer hit her with his fists, threatened her and tried to run over her.

A third woman, Micaela Escudero, said she was "beaten and threatened" by Cabrera.

Carlos Nayi, Rivadero's lawyer, told the newspaper "Clarin": "He just laughs at the judges and the international arrest warrant." According to Nayi, Cabrera is "a violent person and runs the risk of committing any barbarism."

Cabrera's willingness to use violence should be an open secret, at least in Argentine golf.

He was arrested in 2007 shortly after his US Open victory and taken into custody for a few hours.

At that time, he is said to have been violent towards a police officer.

Cabrera has not been seen on the tour in the past few months.

The Argentine had decided to take a break from playing and concentrated on rehab after an operation on his wrist and elbow.
