Olof Östblom, competition manager at the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, is disappointed after Sweden's exit in the quarterfinals against Finland.

- I suffer above all with the boys, he says.

This is the second time in three years that Sweden does not advance from the quarterfinals of the Junior WC.

The expert Nils Ekman wants the ice hockey association to act and start an investigation.

- We work with that all the time.

This year, at least three works have been underway to look at our junior activities, says competition director Olof Östblom and continues.

"Of course it's serious"

Why Sweden did not advance from the quarterfinals twice in three years is too early to say, says Olof Östblom.

- You can have many thoughts and ideas, but it is clear that we must constantly look at how we can develop junior hockey.

But today I can not say outright what it is due to.

But Östblom takes the loss and the exit in the quarterfinals seriously.

- It is clear that it is serious.

We want to be part of the fight for the medals, the players want it, the Swedish ice hockey wants it and the ice hockey association wants it, he says and continues.

"Make it too easy for yourself"

- But then, less than a day after the loss, pull huge gears on this without having done a proper analysis - I think that is unserious.

Östblom believes, however, that it is a failure that they have not managed to reach the goal.

- But to say that Swedish junior hockey does not measure up, to do the analysis that was less than 24 hours ago - then I think you make it far too easy for yourself.

No new Boustedt investigation

In the early 2000s, Sweden was close to leaving the A-team.

For that reason, Tommy Boustedt did a junior investigation - which became a success story for the Swedish part - after that, Sweden reached the semifinals and finals year after year.

But to take up such an investigation again is not relevant.

- A fantastic job was done and was a fantastic result and it still gives good results, it's just a matter of looking at how many players we have in the NHL and how many are drafted each year.

But we must constantly work to refine it, but doing what was done in 2003 is not something that is relevant right now.
