Germany and Switzerland ended the group stage by meeting each other, and then settled for the last quarter-final place in group A.

The winner was Germany, who got off to a flying start and were superior in the first period and there seemed to decide the match when they went up to 3-0.

Germany slowed down

In the second period, Tim Stültze (whose 2-0 goal (in the clip above) was magnificent) made it 4-0, which made the match seem to decide the match even more.

But in the third period, Germany slowed down, and two goals in the space of 56 seconds in the third period gave Switzerland air under its wings.

Late match penalty

Switzerland took out the goalkeeper with over three and a half minutes left, but then Germany made it 5-2 instead.

A crosschecking by Justin Volek shortly afterwards, however, resulted in a match penalty, and in game six against four, Switzerland then scored two quick goals, which gave Switzerland hope again.

But Germany manages to resist, and was thus able to secure the quarter-final place,

- Well deserved, says SVT Sports expert Nils Ekman, who, however, was critical of Germany's actions at the end of the match.

- Nonchalance, with playing and cheating and caring more about scoring now.

Close the match, I have been nagging for a while, he said.

With the victory, Germany finishes third in the group, and in the quarter finals will face the team that finishes second in Sweden's group.
