The prestigious Four Hills Tournament starts this Monday with the qualification in Oberstdorf.

But even before the start there is the first bang.

The Pole Klemens Muranka tested positive for Corona during series testing in Oberstdorf on Sunday, as it became known on Monday morning.

Bitter for his teammates: At noon, a few hours before qualification, the organizers decided that this would mean the end for the entire team.

So also for Kamil Stoch, tour winner 2016/2017 and 2017/2018, as well as for defending champion Dawid Kubacki.

"I'm sorry, but it happened ... I'm positive and so far without symptoms," wrote the 26-year-old Muranka on Instagram.

In addition to the top two jumpers Kubacki and Stoch and Muranka, Piotr Zyla, Maciej Kot, Aleksander Zniszczol and Andrzej Stekala were scheduled for the Four Hills Tournament.

Depending on how further tests turn out, it is possible that the Poles will be allowed to join again at a later date.

However, they no longer have any chance of overall victory.

Malysz: "It's strange"

Poland's sporting director, the former world-class jumper Adam Malysz, said: “We had a test two days ago and all the results were negative.

It is strange."

In the first third of the season there had already been a few corona cases in the ski jumping World Cup: In addition to the German flight world champion Karl Geiger, the Austrians Stefan Kraft and Michael Hayböck and their trainer Andreas Widhölzl were also infected.

But everyone is back for the tour.
