This means that Swedes pick both 25th places when Magdalena Eriksson is ranked so on the women's list that was presented a couple of weeks ago.

Zlatan has risen 71 places since 2019 and this is the first time he ends up in the top 30 since 2016 when he was ranked number 20.

Votes on 40

There are 241 coaches, former players and journalists who voted for this year's 100 best men's football players in the world.

Each jury member ranks the 40 best players and gives points from 40 and down to 1.

When the compilation is complete, the players who have received points from at least five jury members are counted, and to avoid peer ratings, the highest awarded points are removed from all players.

The Guardian has so far only presented players 11 to 100 and in eleventh place came Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich and twelfth was Karim Benzemaa at Real Madrid.

Top ten is presented on Christmas Eve.

More Swedes

On the women's side, a list that was presented earlier, it is much more Swedish.

The list, which is topped by Danish Chelsea striker Pernille Harder, includes as many as eight Swedes;

Magdalena Eriksson, Chelsea, is best as 25th, Kosovar Asllani, Real Madrid 35th, Caroline Seger, Rosengård, 64th, Sofia Jakobsson, Real Madrid, 69th, Nilla Fischer, Linköping, 78th, Hanna Glas, Bayern Munich, 81st, Anna Anvegård, Rosengård, 85th and Pauline Hammarlund, Gothenburg, 99th.
