Harsh punishment for the England and Atletico Madrid player due to betting

The Football Association announced today that international defender Kieran Trippier will be suspended for ten weeks and fined 70,000 pounds ($ 94,000) for violating betting rules.

Thus, the 30-year-old Atletico Madrid defender will continue to be suspended from all football activities until February 28, 2021, with the decision going into effect with immediate effect.

The former Tottenham star, who was one of England's most prominent stars in his career to the 2018 World Cup semi-finals, has denied the seven charges against him.

However, the Football Association confirmed four of the charges, while the other three were rejected.

A spokesman for the federation said, "The Atletico Madrid defender denied seven alleged violations of the FA rule (E8) (1) (b), which were said to have occurred during July 2019, and requested a personal hearing."

He added, "An independent regulatory committee was appointed to look into the case, and four of the violations were proven, while three were rejected during a subsequent personal hearing."

He pointed out that "written reasons will be published by the independent regulatory committee regarding its decisions and the associated penalties in a timely manner."

Trippier's accusations took place in July 2019, almost simultaneously with the completion of his £ 20m transfer from Tottenham to Atlético.

The suspension will lead to Trippier being disqualified from at least 14 games for Atletico, including the first leg of the Champions League 16th round with Chelsea on February 23, but he will be available for the capital's Derby against Real Madrid on March 7.
