Fanny Hjelm was raised in the neighborhood club Mariehem SK in Umeå.

The same club as one of Sweden's greatest players of all time, Hanna Ljungberg.

And now, after many years in Umeå IK, which fell out of the Allsvenskan on goal difference, it is time to play in a hard-fought Hammarby.

- There was interest from a few different places, both in Sweden and abroad, but it was Hammarby I wanted to play for.

I think this is where I will develop the most, and that it is the way to play football that suits me best, she says to the club's website.

According to Hammarby's sports director Johan Lager, she belongs to one of the most skilled and ball-safe inner midfielders in the Swedish team.

Ski queen?

Fanny Hjelm has another surname, namely Rönnlund.

Her grandfather was a cousin of the ski legend Assar Rönnlund (1 individual World Cup gold and relay gold in the Olympics and World Cup among others) and she is not even in that sport either.

- I think it's fun and thanks to interested parents I have traveled a lot during my upbringing, she has told Eskilstuna United's website.

Fanny Hjelm Rönnlund has signed a two-year contract with Hammarby.
