"I wanted to make it all a little more positive, to put a little beauty in this frankly not terrible situation", explains Matthias Dandois to France 24, about his latest short film, "Unlocked Down - A Midnight Cruise in Paris ".

While he has not participated in any competition since January 2020, the eight-time BMX flat world champion has multiplied the videos to occupy himself during the successive confinements.

"It's a way to keep in shape, to work with my partners, and to do something good."

"During the first lockdown, I was in New York, and I made a video in the empty streets of the city, 'I LO {ckdown} VE NY', it was already an incredible situation."

Back in Paris during the second confinement, he took up this idea.

"This time, during the day, there were people in the streets, so we shot at night. Which earned us a lot of police checks, despite all the authorizations!", He laughs. .

"The shooting was quite incredible ... and tiring".

Accustomed to "riding" the streets of the capital, Matthias Dandois offered himself a final in an unexpected place that ultimately lends itself well to BMX: the Paris Opera.

"While the culture is at its worst at the moment, it's great to have been able to go and film there, it's symbolic too, since it is ultimately 'thanks' to the pandemic that we were able to to go. This is one of the craziest places I've 'ridden' ".

Film directed by Pierre Blondel, produced by ASI Média.

Music Victor Solf - Traffic Lights.
