The young and agile Italian, 21 years and 189 centimeters, was the fastest down the hill and leads by 27 hundredths ahead of the Swiss Daniel Yule.

Austria's Michael Matt is third, 36 percent behind Vinatzer.

It's tight, tight at the top with twelve skiers within a second.

- It will be interesting to see if Vinatzer can handle that pressure at home, even if there is no audience that stands and shouts and hopes that he will win, says SVT's expert Pernilla Wiberg.

Swedish Kristoffer Jakobsen is currently on to the second race as the 28th man.

He was 2.17 seconds behind leading Vinatzer.

- He went to the finish line but no, that was not what he usually delivers, says SVT's commentator Johan Ejeborg.

- It was a bit too safe to go, Pernilla Wiberg filled in.

The second run is broadcast on SVT1 starting at 12.55.

The competition is ongoing.
