The Chinese Basketball Association launched the China Basketball Open in 2019, a platform for mass basketball events, which was successfully held in 32 cities in 22 provinces (cities, districts) across the country, and Hangzhou City won the national championship.
According to the organizers, the 2020 China Basketball Open series of activities are guided by the Chinese Basketball Association, and hosted by the city's sports authorities or basketball associations.
In order to meet the sports and fitness needs of more basketball enthusiasts and advocate an active and healthy lifestyle, this year's activities were expanded to 46 cities in 27 provinces (cities, districts) across the country.
In the more than one-month city competition, after 1656 fierce battles, 46 teams emerged from the 736 participating teams and crowned the city champions.
It is reported that of the 46 championship teams, 31 will compete in the regional competitions, attacking the 16 places that have advanced to the national finals.

Regarding the competition system, the regional competition is divided into two regions: the north and the south according to the area of the team. The competition has two stages: group stage and qualifying. The participating teams will fight each other in the 8-day competition, and the final decision will be made. The quarterfinals of the North and South regions advanced to the national finals.
According to the schedule, the 20 teams in the North District are divided into 4 groups. After 5 rounds of single round group matches, the top two teams qualify; 11 teams in the South District are divided into two groups, 5 rounds of single round groups After the game, the top 4 of the group qualified.
It is understood that this regional competition is open to spectators free of charge. A total of 13 duels were held on the first match day (20th), attracting more than a thousand spectators to watch the match.
