Brazil-born Levir Culpi will be appointed as the coach for soccer J1 and Cerezo Osaka next season.

This is the fourth time I have taken command at Cerezo.

This was announced by Cerezo President Hiroaki Morishima on the club's official YouTube channel.

Mr. Culpi is 67 years old from Brazil.

He has directed Brazilian powerhouses such as Santos and Cruzeiro, and has also conducted Cerezo three times for a total of nine years.

Regarding the reason for the appointment of Mr. Culpi, President Morishima has trained former Japan national team Shinji Kagawa, who has been active in the German Premier League, and Takumi Minamino, who plays in Liverpool in the English Premier League, as top Japanese players. "I want to return to the starting point of the team again next season and put more emphasis on training. At that point, Mr. Culpi has a good reputation for training, so I wanted to leave it to him."

Mr. Culpi responded by accepting the request for appointment, saying, "I will do my best to create the future of Cerezo."

Cerezo were fourth in J1 this season with 60 points, 18 wins, 10 losses and 6 draws.
