Tragedy in French football.
The Lorient outfielder has died after being hit by a light panel while doing maintenance work on the Du Moustoir stadium turf after the Stade Rennes game.
This was confirmed by the local media 'Ouest France et Telefoot'.
The local club official, 38 years old and father of three children, was caring for the pitch after the match when a panel of lights used to preserve the grass fell on him.
The gardener, a volunteer worker at Lorient, suffered major injuries.
He suffered cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated before being put into an ambulance that transported him to Lorient hospital, where he died hours later.
