The Egyptian Federation begins procedures for returning the youth team from Tunisia and forms a fact-finding committee

The Egyptian Football Association announced today, Saturday, the start of procedures to reinstate the youth team from Tunisia, in light of the circumstances that hindered its participation in the North African Youth Championship that qualifies for the African Nations Championship for Youth. The Federation also announced the formation of a fact-finding committee.

The Egyptian Federation said in a statement published on its official page on the social networking site (Facebook) today, Saturday: “The Egyptian Football Federation has begun to take measures for the return of the national youth team’s delegation from Tunisia, with the continuing unfavorable conditions for its participation in the North African qualifying tournament for the African Nations Youth Championship. Where the Federation addressed the Ministry of Youth and Sports this morning to support the request of a private plane medically equipped with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, in order to preserve the safety of the members of the mission and to complete the treatment of its members with Covid-19 disease (resulting from the emerging corona virus infection) on the homeland to ensure better medical care . "

The Egyptian Football Association also expressed its full readiness to cover all the costs of the return flight.

The federation added in its statement: “While the tripartite committee in charge of managing the Egyptian Football Association headed by Eng. Ahmed Mujahid decided to form a fact-finding committee to clarify the reasons and circumstances that led to the failure of the national youth team to participate in the optimal way in the tournament, provided that a fact-finding committee is formed as follows: Hussein Helmy, the legal advisor to the union on the legal side, Dr. Muhammad Sultan, head of the federation's medical committee on the medical side, Dr. Alaa Abdel Aziz, on the technical side, and Dr. Mustafa Azzam, the rapporteur of the committee, and the committee may seek the assistance of whomever it deems fit to accomplish its mission.

The organizing committee of the North African Youth Championship had decided to cancel the Egyptian national team match against its Tunisian counterpart in the second round of the tournament and calculate the result and the three points in favor of Tunisia.

The Egyptian Football Association stated on Friday: "The elements of the Egyptian youth team list for the match were not completed, after the medical committee refused to acknowledge the negativity of Ahmed Nabil Koka."

He added: "The player was excluded from the match list, which means that 16 players from the national team were infected with the Corona virus, and 14 players are available to play the match, while the regulations stipulate the necessity of 15 players ready to play the match, which are the same conditions that the youth team went through in its last match against Libya. "

Rabie Yassin, the coach of the Egyptian youth team, was infected with the Corona virus, in addition to a number of players on the first days of the team’s presence in Tunisia.
