A mistake by an employee in the Syrian Federation prohibits Tishreen and Al Wahda from participating in the Asian Championship

The Syrian Middle East Online website revealed an administrative mistake made by an employee of the Syrian Football Association, which resulted in the banning of Tishreen, the Syrian Premier League champion, and Al-Wahda, the cup champion, to participate in the AFC soccer tournament, after the federation announced Al-Qari on the list of clubs participating in the tournament, in a list that was empty for the first time of the Syrian clubs since the start of the tournament in 2004, when the Syrian Army Club won the title of the first version of it.


The site stated that "the management of Tishreen and Al-Wehda clubs sent the papers of the two teams on the specified dates to the Syrian Football Association, but the mistake of the employee in the Football Association, in sending the papers to the non-concerned section of the AFC to confirm the participations, which prompted the continental association, according to the specified date yesterday, to Official announcement of the list of clubs participating in the tournament, which did not include any of the Syrian clubs.


The website dealt with the statements of Al-Wahda club president Maher Al-Sayed, during which he blamed the two clubs for excluding employees involved in correspondence with the AFC, in statements in which the master said: “An unforgivable mistake, as we have completed all the required papers to participate since last November 12, and all papers have been sent to the licensing office. In the Syrian Football Association a week before the end of the legal period.


He added, "Preparing the team to participate in the AFC Cup cost more than one billion Syrian pounds (400 thousand dollars), and we also contracted with foreign players to support unity in the AFC Cup, so that all our efforts were wasted due to an employee's mistake."


The "Middle East Online" website pointed to the confessions of the Syrian Football Association of the mistake made by the employee of its licensing department, and sending the papers to the non-concerned section of the AFC to confirm the participation, with confirmation of the Syrian Federation and through its Secretary General Ibrahim Aba Zaid, by sending a letter to the Secretary General of the AFC to review the issue and correct the error, with the aim of providing an opportunity for Syrian clubs to participate.
