There were eight candidates for seven places.

And it is Toulouse which has failed.

The Pink City will not host any match in the football tournament of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The news fell on Thursday from Tony Estanguet.

At the end of a board of directors, the president of the organizing committee listed the lucky ones elected: Marseille, Bordeaux, Lyon, Saint-Etienne, Nice, Paris, Nantes.

Lille, also initially planned for football, now hosts handball.

In September 2017, in the wake of the award of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, the Stadium was one of the nine venues selected to host seven to eight matches of the men's and women's football tournaments.

But the health crisis linked to Covid-19 has gone through this.

It forced Paris 2024 to revise its budget downwards and to reorganize events.

In September 2020, the number of sites to host football matches was reduced to seven, and a new call for applications was launched.

It was fatal in Toulouse.
