Citizen Ahmed Al-Kathiri revealed that he had set up an outdoor camp to train in temperatures below 40 degrees below zero between Moscow and the Yakutia region in the snowy Siberian desert, last week, in preparation for participating in the "Antarctic Ultra Marathon" next November, which represents the fifth out of six Races run in less than a year, each spanning 250 kilometers, indicating that he aspires to become the first Emirati and Arab runner to achieve this achievement.

He explained: “The schedule of the races in which I participate includes, with the ambition of achieving the first Emirati and Arab runner to run six (ultra-marathon) races in less than a year, each extending 250 kilometers. I will compete in the Antarctic Race Challenge next November, which prompted me to prepare early to adapt to Equipment and clothes, in addition to being exposed to the enemy in low temperatures, to go to Moscow, where I underwent four days of training in temperatures up to seven degrees below zero, and then to Yakutia, where I continued training for three days in temperatures that touched 40 degrees below zero. .

He added: “My accumulated experiences, whether in my participation in the (Marmom) race, the longest desert race in the world with a length of 300 km, or in the (Morocco Ultra Marathon), which ran for a length of 250 km, gives me the ability to deal with the upcoming desert races, starting with the station. The first in Namibia April 2021, followed by the Mongolian race in June, and a return to milder weather in the Georgia and Chile races in August and September. However, my lack of dealing with the snow and ice races, which is the first in my career in my participation in the (Ultra Antarctic Marathon), was behind my approach.
