The long distance star Frida Karlsson, with start number 14, opened strongly in the internal competition of 10 km classic style in Östersund.

But Karlsson would still feel chased through the race - national team colleague Ebba Andersson had starting number 15.

Full throttle throughout

But Frida Karlsson started strong and it was full throttle throughout the race.

Already at 1.8 km, Karlsson had an advantage over Andersson.

And when half the race was completed, Karlsson had a lead of 11 seconds down to Andersson - a lead that would be extended to 16 seconds when 6.4 km had been run.

When Karlsson crossed the finish line, she had almost caught up with half the starting field and took a crushing victory with 27 seconds before Ebba Andersson who finished second and third Moa Olsson.
