The months go by and are not alike for Mbaye Niang.
Passed from the status of executive player to a role of understudy at the arrival of Serhou Guirassy, the Stade Rennais striker had expressed his desires elsewhere.
All summer, he will have proclaimed his admiration for Olympique de Marseille, where he owns a house and where he was confined in the spring, before taking the path to Saint-Etienne for a transfer that never took place.
Scorer in Nice on Sunday, the Senegalese did not hide Wednesday night from the press after the victory against OM (2-1) and clearly expressed his intention to stay in Brittany at least until the 'summer.
“For me, I'm here for the whole season,” he said.

Asked about his ambitions for the winter transfer window, the former AC Milan player was in the affirmative.
“I do not feel concerned by this transfer window.

Loaned by Torino in 2018, Mbaye Niang had been permanently transferred to Rennes in June 2019. He scored 14 goals in his first season in red and black and 15 last year during the season interrupted due to Covid-19 .
He scored his first goal on Sunday in the victory in Nice.
