Melker Karlsson left Skellefteå after the Swedish Championship gold in 2014, and has since played in the San Jose Sharks, the last four seasons as a regular without a visit to the Grandparents' League.

But now he is returning to his former club, after 456 games (66 goals, 60 assists) and a Stanley Cup final in the NHL.

- It feels great!

I've been looking forward to it for a while now.

There were some things that would work before and now everything has fallen into place so it feels good to be home and play here again.

It was here to go when you were done over there, so there was nothing to think about.

It is a little special season and it is a little special conditions to come home under, but it will be fun to try to help the team and we will hopefully build on something big here, he says in a statement on Skellefteå's website.

"Can help the team"

The club's sports director Erik Forssell says that Karlsson, despite his merits, is not a particularly expensive solution.

- His experience and quality will make us more stable and can help the team for the rest of the season.

Since then, Melker has lined up financially in a very nice way for the club and it was clear that he wanted to come home and play for Skellefteå AIK, he says.
