Former rugby international Jean-Pierre Lux, who chaired for fifteen years the European Rugby Cup (ERC), the body responsible for managing the organization of the European Cups, died Tuesday at the age of 74 years.

“I learn of the death of Jean-Pierre Lux.

A man of commitment, he has worn the jersey of the XV of France 47 times.

President of the European Rugby Cup, member of the LNR Steering Committee, he was also a great leader.

A Grand Slam on the prize list

Lux, originally from Tyrosse (Landes) before wearing the colors of Dax and reaching the final of the French championship in 1973, played in the center.

International 47 times from 1967 to 1975, winner of the Grand Slam in 1968, he scored twelve tries with the Blues.

A dental surgeon by profession, he became a leader after his career, in Dax, then in the National Rugby League where he was a member of the Committee from 1998 to 2012 and finally within the FFR from 2012 to 2016. In At the same time, he chaired the ERC, the organizer of the European Rugby Cups from 1999 to 2014.
